Automated resistance (spot) welding

Every one of our services combines CNC precision with engineering experience, giving you the confidence of repeatable quality and short lead times.

Service description

Resistance spot and projection welding on automated welders – we join steel and brass components without thermal deformation, ideal for household appliances, furniture and automotive.

Resistance welding is a clean joining technique – no filler material, with joint strength comparable to fusion welding. We work on AC welders for sheet and wire from 0.3–4 mm thick. The machines feature CAM control, allowing full control of the parameters (current, time, electrode force) for each weld point.

Quality control includes shear tests, pull tests and visual inspection of the joint. It is a technology used across all sectors where reducing structural weight and shortening production-process times are key. We handle both prototypes and multi-million-unit runs, with delivery terms per INCOTERMS 2020.

Typical applications:

  • Car seat and chair frames
  • Furniture frames for the HoReCa sector
  • Household-appliance baskets and frames (dishwasher baskets, shoe dryers, etc.)
  • Covers and housings for lighting-industry light sources
  • Mounts and clamps
  • Furniture and office parts

What our service includes

For half a century we have been creating metal solutions that go into the production of cars, household appliances, furniture, building structures and industrial machinery. We make both individual prototypes and runs in the hundreds of thousands – with repeatable quality confirmed by certificates.

Frequently asked questions

We work with process and design engineers from across Europe. We offer a full range of manufacturing services under one roof.
How long does order fulfilment take?

The standard lead time is 2–6 weeks from approval of the technical drawing, depending on product complexity and batch size. For prototype production the average time is 7–14 days.

Yes – we work flexibly. Changes in the prototype phase are carried through until a WIN–WIN result is achieved. During series production we require a formal change order, and costs depend on the scale of the modification (change of material, geometry or tolerances).

Yes. We work in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 (for automotive). We provide 3.1 quality certificates per EN 10204, PPAP/VDA reports, material conformity certificates and full production-batch documentation.

Yes. Our company operates an ISO 14001 environmental management system. We use anti-corrosion coatings (alkaline zinc plating, Zn-Ni), packaging made from recyclable materials, and we recover >95% of metal waste.

Full co-design is standard with us. The client can be involved from the concept phase – together we analyse requirements and propose materials and geometry, prototypes and fatigue tests. We offer engineering support at every stage of production.

The resistance welding used at PSI works by melting and permanently joining the mating surfaces of the parts by means of a high-intensity current.
